Tucson Spotlight has formalized an agreement with the Latino Media Collaborative to strengthen its capacity-building efforts and expand high-quality journalism that serves diverse communities.

The Latino Media Collaborative, a nonprofit focused on empowering Latino voices through media, was founded in 2019. Its mission is to inform, empower, and serve Latino communities across the country.

The new partnership outlines plans for joint media projects, shared resources and strategic collaboration across campaigns aimed at informing and activating Latino audiences.

Under the agreement, Spotlight will participate in regular convenings with LMC and other Latino-serving media outlets to share ideas, cross-publish content and help mobilize support for community-centered journalism.

The partnership reflects Tucson Spotlight’s broader commitment to bilingual coverage, Spanish-language access and local reporting that reflects the region’s cultural and linguistic diversity.

“This partnership is an exciting step forward in our mission to produce journalism that truly reflects and serves our community,” said Tucson Spotlight co-founder Caitlin Schmidt. “By working with the Latino Media Collaborative, we’re strengthening our ability to share stories, resources, and strategies with other Latino-serving outlets, and building collective power to ensure our communities are informed, represented and heard.”

The agreement is expected to support new reporting collaborations and help strengthen Spotlight’s mission of building sustainable, community-rooted journalism in Southern Arizona.
