Tucson Spotlight is expanding its Spanish-language coverage with "El Foco Dominguero," a new weekly email newsletter debuting Sunday, Sept. 21.

Subscribers can expect summaries of the week’s stories from Tucson Spotlight's Spanish-lanugage vertical, El Foco de Tucson, along with a curated list of community events in and around Tucson and a special sports roundup section.

The newsletter is produced with the support of three bilingual news interns from San Miguel High School, who will spend the school year creating content in both Spanish and English for Tucson Spotlight. Their contributions reflect the organization’s ongoing commitment to mentoring the next generation of storytellers and ensuring diverse voices are represented in local journalism.

This initiative reinforces Tucson Spotlight’s mission to highlight undercovered topics and communities, provide Southern Arizonans with tools to seek solutions, and amplify the voices of new, emerging and diverse journalists.

“We’re thrilled to launch ‘El Foco Dominguero’ as a new way to connect with our community, celebrate the richness of bilingual journalism and make sure more people have access to stories that matter,” said Deputy Editor Susan Barnett.
