Tucson Spotlight co-founder Susan Barnett will join a panel at the Phoenix Diálogo, discussing the future of Latino-led journalism in Arizona and the Southwest.

Tucson Spotlight co-founder Susan Barnett will join a panel discussion at the Latino Media Collaborative's Phoenix Diálogo next month, where journalists and community leaders will examine the challenges and opportunities facing Latino-led local news.

Tucson Spotlight is also serving as a media sponsor for the event, underscoring its commitment to supporting Latino-focused journalism in Arizona.

Hosted in partnership with Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the free event is scheduled for Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at ASU's downtown Phoenix campus.

The Diálogo will convene journalists, community leaders and media professionals to discuss the current state of Latino-led local news in Arizona and beyond. The event aims to explore how the media landscape addresses the needs of the Latino community, identify gaps and discuss opportunities to strengthen the news ecosystem for the region .

The event will be moderated by Joanna Jacobo, southwest editor for CALÓ News. Other panelists include Conecta Arizona's Maritza Félix and Presna Arizona's Oscar Ramos.

The Phoenix Diálogo is part of LMC's broader efforts to leverage the power of Latino and community news media to impact policy, change narratives, and promote civic engagement, while also supporting the advancement of the sector through capacity building, research, and advocacy.
