The candidates for Tucson’s Wards 3 and 6 general election are now set, following a state-mandated recount that resolved lingering uncertainty.

Democratic incumbent Kevin Dahl and Republican Janet “JL” Wittenbraker will appear on the November 4 ballot, while Democrats Miranda Schubert and Jay Tolkoff advance in Ward 6.

In Ward 5, Selina Barajas secured the seat outright in the primary, eliminating the need for a general election contest.

The recount was triggered by Dahl's 119-vote victory, but was delayed when challenger Sadie Shaw filed a legal challenge to the results in Pima County Superior Court.

On August 25, a judge upheld Dahl’s narrow victory over Shaw in the primary, clearing the way for the recount and ultimately the general election matchup with Wittenbraker, who faced no opposition in her party’s primary.

In Ward 6, Schubert awas the top vote-getter in the Democratic primary, with 64.5% of the vote, and will move on to the general election alongside Republican Tolkoff.

The election is set for Nov. 4 and the deadline to register to vote is Oct. 6. Early voting begins Oct. 8 and last day to request a mail-in ballot is Oct. 24.
